I am a senior at Illinois State University and I am majoring in Elementary Education. I will be student teaching at Heyworth Elementary in Heyworth, IL and I will be teaching 3rd grade. Originally I am from Ottawa, IL where I grew up with my wonderful parents and my three brothers. I have had a number of different pets, and I currently in the process of getting a turtle to take care of. Sports are a really big part of my life, whether it be playing them or just watching them they are extremely important to me.
I chose to develop this webpage about Mongolia to inform my students about a country that not many people know about, but according to land area is one of the biggest countries in the world. Another reason that I chose Mongolia is because they are strategically located between two of the most powerful countries, China and Russia. The activities that I have chosen are meant to further the students' understanding of the country and to see how life is on another continent. The educational philosophy and mission statement that I strive to portray to my students is that there is a reason for coming to school each and every day and to want to improve themselves socially and educationally each and every day. I think it is important for students to look for deeper meaning in their education and to challenge themselves to go above and beyond the minimum.
